Pamphlet
Sir,—Your correspondent. Ms Moon, responds antagonistically to my suggestion that T.H.A.W. promote chastity and self-respect instead of abortion, and suggests that I keep my views on morality to myself. I suggest that she attempts instead to justify the actions of a group who arrogantly and without invitation distributed their pro-abortion pamphlets to schoolgirls regardless of parents' rights. The Health alternative for women is aptly named. Abortion is an alternative to health, both physical and mental. Promoting it is an irresponsible act. — Yours, etc.,
LILLIAN CARR June 12. 1982.
Sir.—Anyone who had studied sociology would know that the abortion rate, degree of promiscuity and venereal disease etc., has not risen due to the implementations of the work of the Family Planning clinics. Clinics are operating in response to the demands of the public due to the. liberal sexual trends of today's society, not as some believe — encouraging a sexually liberated society through education of the youth, etc. The clinics’ aims are to make young women aware of the great responsibility they are undertaking in commencing sexual activity. They are informed directly, honestly and thoroughly. I can only regard this service as not only an asset; but essential to this liberal society in which we live, and which the clinic has had no responsibility for creating.—Yours, etc.. ELAINE BAXTER. June 12. 1982.
