Gay Bartlett is the designer behind the Accent on Fashion collection.
Her sense of professional discipline and exactitude is projected in her collection each season. Based in Christchurch. her manufacturing company designs and makes for two very close, but different fashion markets — New. Zealand and Australia. Her collection each season is no mere rack of fashion samples without plan or purpose.
Each piece is carefully designed to be a workable unit within a collection created for life-styles. Gay Bartlett creates clothes for women who love natural clothes, beautiful workmanship and finish, and the simple qualities of classical styling. She makes no secret of her aim to produce clothes that suggest all the new messages in fashion but in an understated way. Her mid-season collection this winter provides many options.
Neat city suiting, casual week-end wear, artful and astute layering with ethnic overtones, and extremely feminine adaptations for evening. Gay Bartlett loves clothes that dress up evenings to look quietly "grande."
Many of her mid-season styles are in textured midweight fabrics which allow them to move well into spring and summer.
Our photographs illustrate “Day and Night” fashion in the mid-season collection from Accent on Fashion, exclusive in Christchurch, to Marquee, in the Shades. The well-known Christchurch model, Gabrielle, wears boucle silk for evening, softly spoken all the way. The collection provides wearable options of the evening camisole and over-shirt teamed with zouves, above, or the more classical, gently gathered skirl, top, left.
