Wet roads claim two in Auckland
PA Auckland, Two persons died yesterday as rain made driving hazardous and caused more 'than 30 accidents on Auckland roads. A St John Ambulance spokesman said that there had been more than twice the usual ‘ number of calls. About 25mm of rain fell in the region. . An Onehunga man was killed when the car he was driving crossed the median
strip of the Southern Motorway and was in collision
with a south-bound Railways bus. He was '■ John Mone, aged 32. The Papakura police aYe seeking the driver of a trucktrailer unit that they think was involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident on the motorway at Papakura at 6.35 am. yesterday. A witness told the police that the trailer struck and killed a motor-cyclist. He was Robert Laurence Soole, aged 23, a fitter, of Mangere.
