Safety checks for microlight pilots
Safety checks for microlight pilots are the first step for the newly formed Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Microlight Aircraft Association.
About 30 people joined the branch at an inaugural meeting on Thursday evening. The meeting organiser and new branch president. Mr A. F. Boyd, said that a committee had been formed to appoint'a safety officer and a technical sub-committee which would control safety aspects such as the quality of flying machines and flying conditions.
He expected that a growing interest in the sport would double the branch’s membership within a year. People had travelled from as far afield as Hokitika and Rangitata to attend the meeting.
