Jenkins, University Librarian, Massey University proposes to appoint a successor who will assume office on a mutually agreed date. The University Librarian is the chief executive officer of the Library, being responsible tor the control and superitendence of all aspects of its operations, including library service to . some 8500 extramural students. The Library houses the total University collection and there are no branch libraries. The University Librarian is a member ex officio of the Professorial Board which is the principle academic policymaking body of the University. The Library,'with a staff of 61 (equivalent full time), contains a collection of some 400.000 items and receives about 5000 serial titles. It is required co cater for the needs of a current student body of approximately 14,650 (inclusive of those studying extramurally) and an academic staff of some 550. Salary range is $NZ40,404 - $NZ42.315 with the possibility of promotion to a merit grade of $NZ43,680.
