Frigates to swap places
PA Wellington H.M.N.Z.S. Waikato would replace H.M.N.Z.S. Canterbury on Indian Ocean patrol with-the Royal Navy-in midAugust, said a Ministry of Defence spokesman yesterday. ■ The switch was* being made because the ’ Canter-
bury had been at sea since February 12. It had been planned to bring the Canterbury home in mid-July before she was diverted to replace a British frigate in the Indian Ocean. The Waikato is now exercising with the United States Navy near Hawaii.
