General forecast: The complex trough of low pressure is moving slowly eastwards, and further showers are likely about the northern half of the North Island: In other North Island districts it should be mainly fine. Colder southerlies and rain are expected to develop near Cook Strait. Over the South Island cold southerlies will prevail with a band of rain in the north, and scattered coastal showers about Southland and Otago; mainly fine and cold in Fiordland, South Westland and inland parts of Otago and Southland.. lies about the coast and northerlies inland soon moderating; overcast with periods of rain clearing inland and about South Canterbury. Marlborough: Fresh, cooler southerlies spreading north along the Kaikoura coast; cloudy with scattered rain. Nelson,’ Buller:- Mainly cloudy with scattered showers and little wind. Westland: Winds moderating and turning south-easterly; becoming fine from the south. Outlook: Fine in Canterbury and Westland; clearing in Nelson and Buller; cold and showery in Marlborough.
