General forecast: The complex trough of low pressure is moving slowly eastwards, and further showers are likely about the northern half of the North Island: In other North Island districts it should be mainly fine. Colder southerlies and rain are expected to develop near Cook Strait. Over the South Island cold southerlies will prevail with a band of rain in the north, and scattered coastal showers about Southland and Otago; mainly fine and cold in Fiordland, South Westland and inland parts of Otago and Southland..
