Press staff part of Govt cuts?
PA Wellington Departments may have to supply press officers for y their Ministers in future, ' rather than the Tourist and Publicity’s information and press section supplying them. The change is one of the”, options being considered as'rj part of the Government’s ‘f cost-cutting measures, an '. official has said. He said the option included' . abandoning - the press and j information office. The review is also believed ' to involve the National Film ' Unit and the National Publicity Studios. The latter pro- ’ vides photographic services for overseas promotion work 1 as well as for domestic publicity on behalf of Govern- , ment departments. The committee making the \ review is expected to present ■' a report to the Government next month setting out vari- ” ous options. The information and press section has a $1.3 million budget.
