Woman dies in fire
PA Wellington Gardeners kicked down the door of a rubbish-filled Wellington house yesterday in an unsuccessful bid to save a woman trapped in a blazing kitchen.
The cause Of the fire, which also spread to’a neighbouring house, was unknown. The (lead woman was Winifred Mary Whitman, aged 41. A police spokesman said that three explosions were heard from inside the twostorey house. ‘
