Brain scans on child sent to Canada

PA ; Wellington Brain scans on Alwena Pegg, aged six. are being sent to Canada for assessment by the surgeon who removed’ a damaged part of her brain last year. The surgeon.’ Dr William Feindel. spoke by telephone to the child’s Wellington neurologist. Dr .David Fung, on Tuesday to discuss the recurrence 'of j l , her epileptic seizures. n , Last October, with the help of donations throughout New Zealand. Alwena Pegg was flown to Montreal for surgery which doctors hoped would stop the seizures. But, three Weeks ago they started again and last Thursday. the child was admitted to Hutt Hospital where doctors are using drugs to try to bring the seizures under control. Alwena Pegg has a .disease called tuberous' sclerosis and suffers from a .side effect, a rare form of epilepsy. . Dr Feindel said that it was still too soon after the surgery to make any prediction for her future treatment.
