Royal shawl on show
A shawl made for the Royal baby by Mrs Margaret Stove, of Glenroy, will be on display in Christchurch today at the Simon and Sarah shop in Merivale. Mrs Stove was commissioned by the Wool Producers of.the High Country. South Island, to handspin and knit wool into a shawl for the baby. ■ due soon to the Prince and Princess of Wales. ■. >
The circular, intricately .patterned shawl took Mrs Stove 400 hours to make. It was knitted on size 16 (Hamm) and size. 14 (2mm) needles, and took more than 2500 metres of wool. It weighs less than 100 grams. The shawL which is from an original design, will be on display at the shop, at 203 Papanui Road, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
