Canberra raises quotas

NZPA Canberra Australia has increased import quotas for textiles, clothing, and footwear. The Minister of Industry and Commerce (Sir Phillip Lynch) and the Minister of Administrative Services (Mr Kevin Newman) said yesterday that a special committee had recommended raising the quotas to reflect market growth prospects for 1983. The committee was formed to advise the Government on aspects ,of the seven-year assistance programme for the textiles, clothing, and footwear industries. It monitors conditions in the industries and reports on prospective market growth.
