Maori pupils on S.I. tour
More than 100 Maori school pupils from Auckland arrived by’ bus in Christchurch last evening on an educational tour of the South Island.
The sixth and seventh formers from St Stephen’s and Queen Victoria colleges will be taking time off from their sightseeing itinerary to stage a variety concert in the Caledonian Hall at 7.30 p.m. today. Concerts are a regular feature of the tour, with ticket sales helping to cover travel expenses. The secretary, of the Rehua Marae trust, Mr T. J. Ryan, said that pupils were welcomed with a hangi on the marae.
