Jets for India
The French External Relations Minister (Mr Claude Cheysson) has confirmed that India had agreed to buy 40 advanced Mirage 2000 jet fighters. Mr Cheysson, who accompanied President Francois Mitterrand to Tokyo, was responding to questions from the press on denials by both India and Dassault, the Mirage manufacturer, that the deal was set. He was also optimistic that a bigger order was in the offing. “It seems obvious to me , that India will take 110 more Mirages,” Mr Cheysson said, adding that 40 planes would be “insufficient.”—Tokyo. ’ T
