Sunday soccer
Despite dominating possession, the defending champion, Avonhead A, could only beat Mastagard A by 1-0 in the opening round division one Sunday soccer league match yesterday. In the other matches, Condor beat Sunnyside, 2-1, with the goals coming in the last fifteen minutes, while Foresters beat Gladstone, 2-1, and North Beach A drew, 3-3, with Woolston Foundry. North Beach led for most of its game but Woolston came back with two goals in the last ten minutes to equalise.
