Brake on easy trend
A brake was put on the recent easv trend on the New Zealand sharemarket yesterday,<as prices rallied in active trading. The N.ZU.C. industrial index rose 5.97 points, to close at 648.83. For the second successive session trading passed the million-share mark, helped again by the busy trading in Winstone. The issue gained 12c to 95c in ordinary trading, the price of the shares for last Friday’s special sales. Waitaki N.Z. Refrigerating was steady at 229 c ahead of the Wattie offer for a 24.9 per cent interest in the freezing "company. Mattie was also steady. Newspaper issues were easier, and the mining and oil sector was again busy.
