Profit for Chrysler
NZPA-Reuter Washington The Chrysler Corporation chairman (Mr Lee lacocca) has said the company will show a profit in the first quarter because of the sale of its defence production unit to General Dynamics for SUS3SO million. Chrysler Corporation was the only one of the big three car makers to report a gain
in early-April sales of domestic new cars. It said its market share in the first 10 days of April was 15.6 per cent, up 3.1 per cent points from the 1981 period. Chrysler said its dealers sold 20,852 cars, up two per cent. General Motors Corporation sales fell 19.1 per cent to 76,093, and Ford Motor Company sales fell 20.7 per cent to 32,212.
