Parsec
Sir,—Of course, your correspondent, R. L. C. Pilgrim, is quite right — parsec is a recognised measure of interstellar distance. However, he is wrong in his assumption that I was wishing to display erudition in my review of “Private Schultz”; reviewers are never
rude. It was a matter of cryptic metaphor. Elphick was the star of the series and the distance between him and the other heavenly bodies, particularly that of Billie Whitelaw, was a matter of his timing. This complex relationship seemed to cry out for the use of a word such as parsec. Or, I may just have been lost somewhere on the idiosyncratic space-time continuum which results from the time-warp the pundits of T.V.N.Z. build into their schedule of programmes from overseas. — Yours, etc., KEN STRONGMAN.
