Meat cargoes for study
Methods of shipping New Zealand’s refrigerated meat cargoes will soon be studied by an international consultant company. Manalytics, of San Francisco. The company has been hired by the New Zealand Meat Producers Board to look at shipping arrangements for the country’s meat exports. The study, which is expected to be finished by June, will help the board organise its shipping arrangements for the next 10 years. Aspects which will come under Manalytics' scrutiny include the merits of various shipping systems. such as containers, conventional shipping, and roll-on services. Vessel design, and developments in meat cargo handling methods will also be studied. Shipping, contracts and agreements with a number of New Zealand's trading partners will be reviewed later this year. ARRIVALS Saturday Onehunga (6.05 a.m.) 1459, NewPlymouth (C/Shipping).
