Schools and raffles
Sir,—Although I encountered youngsters selling raffle tickets on three occasions yesterday, I was impressed by their behaviour. It was obviously a combined team effort, involving them in a responsible manner with the general public. It was for the schools, and was required to help shoulder the burden imposed by, a parsimonious Government for the purchase of necessary equipment. I would say’ to the department's regional superintendent. Mr Gainsford: Do not sympathise with the complainant. What he really needs is a kick in the pants to wake him up.' — Yours, etc., ANDREW N. RUSSELL. April 16, 1982.
