P.M.’s warning
PA . Wellington The business community was warned by the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) this week not to waste time concocting ways to beat Budgetnight changes to company tax — any changes would be backdated to April 1, he said. "It will be a fruitless exercise for any one to endeavour to forecast what changes the Government might introduce in the Budget,” Mr Muldoon said in a statement. "In fairness to the business community, I am taking this
step io ensure that no one wastes time and energy trying to concoct schemes or devices to circumvent changes to company taxation." The Prime Minister this week made public the final report of the taxation reform task force. The Government is expected to make decisions on at least some of the task force's recommendations in time for the Budget, which will probably be announced in late July.
