Metritis outbreak
NZPA staff correspondent Washington American veterinarians have confirmed the presence of contagious equine metritis in three mares on a farm near Lexington, Kentucky. The farm has been quarantined while the Department of Agriculture finds out how the highly transmissible venereal disease was introduced, a spokesman said on Thursday. This is the first confirmed outbreak in the United States since the disease was diagnosed on a farm in Missouri, in April,-1979.
