Sporting contacts
Sir—l' do hope this slight contretemps between Britain and Argentina will not adversely affect our sporting contacts with the redoubtable Jaguars. What a golden opportunity for Ces Blazey and his mates to offer their services, as mediators. They could organise a world rugby tournament, inviting the United States, the Soviet Union, Britain, Argentina, the People’s Republic of China, Cuba, South Africa, France and Australia to send teams here to meet Rob’s ordinary blokes. After a series of matches, smokos, and meet-the-people functions no-one would be interested any more in colonial aspiration, nuclear testing or balance-of-trade problems. Might be a bit awkward for our professional protesters, though—Yours, etc., LES BOGREN. April 5, 1982.
