Farming industry
Sir,—One can hardly juxtapose my weighty question of character (March 22) with the grievous encumbrance of trivial humdrum from Arthur May (March 25). He has not only failed to answer it, he has got himself into a perplex knot of threads far beyond his own comprehension. I'.wonder how long the S4OOM S.M.P. funds would last if spread over all industries, a week? Then what? Or how far it would go given to the unemployed. I for one could give little credibility to a political party that has been the Government once in 21 years. My original question again is would it mean a reduction in tax for everyone else if the Government stopped subsidising farmers? And, as for country cousins I doubt very much if too many people in the country would want to be related to Arthur May.— Yours, etc., R. W. LANGDON. Ashburton. March 25, 1982.
