Bellis wins Aust, bowls
NZPA Melbourne New Zealand's international. Peter Beiliss won the final of the Mazda International Invitation Singles at Beaumaris Club, Melbourne, yesterday. He was never headed in defeating Australian representative, Bob King, of New South Wales, by six shots in the final. Beiliss took a 7-0 lead with some great draw shot play. King was forced to drive but was off target. However, he reduced the leeway to four shots on the sixteenth end. Bellis then drew four magnificent counters within 30cm of the jack and, in what was to be the turning point of the match. King failed with his final drive to trail 18-11. The New Zealand champion made no mistake over the concluding stages and ran out a convincing 21-15 winner.
