Waitaki in demand

Waitaki N.Z. Refrigerating rose 13c to 248 c in busy trading on a ,weak New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. The price of the issue sold between 238 c and 248 c, the largest parcel of 35,800 shares going at the latter price. The N.Z.U.C. industrial index lost 7.09 points, or about 1 per cent, on an active market. National Insurance led the decline on a 12c fall, and other big losses included Allied Farmers. Ceramco, and Tolley Holdings. Feltex eased 1c in spite of its good result. Going against the trend were Clyde Group and Printing and Packaging. Independent Newspapers eased and United Printing and Publishing was steady at 300 c, although a smaller parcel of shares sold at 310 c. It was stated yesterday that UPP had a paid-up capital of 1.4 M shares; in fact it has about 2.8 M shares worth about SI.4M.
