Report cut criticised
PA Wellington General news and current affairs staff of Radio New Zealand have criticised a decision of the corporation to cut the “Midday Report” programme by half., A statement issued on their behalf said the cut would save about $31,000 — a "drop in the ocean” compared with the total news budget. The statement described the move as a panic one and said more savings could have been achieved if the staff had been informed. It said that further ciits were expected in the noncommercial area, possibly affecting "Checkpoint,” “Morning Report,” and “Insight.”
