Waitaki queried
Waitaki N.Z. Refrigerating, Ltd, was yesterday queried by the Stock Exchange Association about the sudden upsurge in the price of its shares on the New Zealand sharemarket.
The share price of Waitaki shares rose in small parcels from 228 c to 248 c a share, and a total of 69,700 shares were traded. The largest parcel of about 24,000 shares sold at 235 c each. The directors of Waitaki advised the association that they were not aware of any reason why the market value of the company’s shares should have dramatically increased on the stock exchanges yesterday.
There were no statements or announcements imminent regarding the operations or the structure of the company, they said. The message to the association was signed by Waitaki’s company secretary, Mr D. A. Hogan.
