Pacers for Auckland
Special correspondent Auckland Five of the South Island candidates for the Great Northern Derby on the third night of the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting on March 20 will be flown from Christchurch today. They are Enterprise, Mai "Mai, Lopez Song. Portfolio and Mel’s Boy. Also in the aircraft will be Mister Majestic, which is engaged in the first leg of the T.A.B. double tomorrow, the Courier Handicap.
Mister Wood Chips and Hilarious Guest, Derby contenders, will travel by sea and road from the South Island, as will False Regal and Royal Decision.
■ The Dunedin mare, Idolmite, stayed in the north after finishing fourth in the Auckland Cup last month.
She is now trained al Pukekohe by Fraser Kirk, who will drive her in the Courier Handicap.
