Hurunui Hotel
Sir,—The interior of the historic Hurunui Hotel is being restored and refurbished. The board is maintaining its historic character as far as possible and would like to use genuine decorations of the period, as well as displaying items directly connected with the hotel and its history. Could I ask anybody with items or information pertaining to the Hurunui Hotel or its surroundings to contact me, as I am coordinating the collection of history for the board., We are interested in photographs, paintings, anecdotes; history, records, furniture ahd furnishings, objects and utensils. This hotel holds, we believe, the oldest continuous licence in New Zealand. It. provided accommodation for early travellers, a post office for the surrounding district and was where sheep crossing the Hurunui were dipped to prevent the spread of scab. Please contact me, c/o Hurunui' Hotel, or leave a message with our Christchurch Co-ordinator, 50546 ‘ Christchurch (P.O. Box 2306, Christchurch). — Yours, etc. MRS S. McRAE. February 24, 1982.
