Farmers’ S.M.P.s
Sir, — I was delighted to see the president of North Canterbury Federated Farmers echo the Labour Party’s views on the present extraordinarily high level of S.M.P.S this season, which will cost the taxpayer close to $3OO million. The root cause of this madness is inflation which still runs at 16 per cent, in the seventh year of a National Party Government. The dilemma for the rural community showed up in the recent election when clearly many farmers chose to continue to support a government with no coherent policy on tackling inflation. — Yours, etc. D. COMBER. March 7, 1982.
