The Public Affairs Officer is primarily responsible for projecting the purpose, policies and activities of the Council to the public and for the dissemination of public information on alcohol-related matters to all levels of the community, under the direction of the Educatlon/Information Committee. The successful applicant will therefore be required to: a. Liaise with the Council’s public relations and advertising agencies, community leaders, and other organisations with common interests. b. Address clubs, public meetings and private organisations. c. Compile, edit and produce Council publications, including a quarterly newsletter, pamphlets, brochures and press releases. d. Have relevant tertiary or equivalent qualifications and appropriate experience in journalism and public communication. Salary for this position will be In the range of $24,739 to $27,487, depending on qualifications and experience. THE PERSON A selt-motivated mature person able to work with a minimum of supervision, and with a sound practical knowledge of the smallgoods manufacturing industry. Ideally, a person with previous sales experience would be most suitable, but every consideration will be given to people from the smallgoods and meat processing industries who have the practical knowledge necessary and who wish to further their careers into selling and marketing.
