Arms agreement

Sir,—ln support of your two correspondents in “The Press” today opposing an arms agreement with America, I maintain it is no way to peace. Quite simply, peace is the way. Therefore a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the South Pacific area is hopeful in our world, near to despair over the daily expenditure of $547 million on armaments to destroy, while so many are hungry and homeless. The Christian aim is; “Life more abundantly,” proclaimed by Jesus of Nazareth. Right now New Zealand has its opportunity to decide for the creative way of peace in the South Pacific, in which way many South Pacific islands also wish to go. — Yours, etc, N. BECK. March 1, 1982.
