Mr Knox to work for appeal

PA Wellington The president of the Federation of Labour, Mr W. J. Knox, will go out door-to-door collecting for the Cancer Society on May 15, and he expects many of the country’s 440,000 trade unionists to join him. Mr Knox said he wanted to do what he could to put a leash on the scourge of cancer, and to prove to the entire population that the trade union movement was prepared to become involved in' matters of community help and interest. Mr Knox admitted that he wanted to improve the image of the trade union movement, and the F.O.L. in particular. A letter has been sent from the F.O.L. to all affiliated unions, district councils, and trade union committees calling for support in door-to-door collections on May 15.
