NZ devaluation
The New Zealand dollar was again devalued by a small amount in February. The release of the Reserve Bank’s exchange rate index showed that the index again dropped 0.5 points during February the sixth consecutive month the dollar has been devalued by this amount. The release said: “The
level of the Reserve Bank exchange rate index stood at 85.1 at the end of February. The index which measures the value of the New Zealand dollar in terms of a basket of currencies of New Zealand’s main trading partners, has a base of 100.0 at the end of June, 1979, and stood at 85.6 . at the end of January, 1982.”
