Defence head on N.Z. visit
The Malaysian Deputy. Minister of Defence will arrive in Christchurch on today to begin a familiarisation tour of New Zealand. Mr Abang Abu Bakar will be accompanied by his wife and a small party of officials when he arrives at Christchurch Airport from Australia. He will be met the Secretary of Defence. Mr D. B. G. McLean. While in Christchurch he will visit the King Edward Barracks and will be briefed on the New Zealand Army and next month's Exercise Southern Safari, a FivePower Defence Agreement
exercise which will be held at Lake Tekapo and will be attended by a company of Malaysian soldiers from the Seventh Royal Malay Regiment. He will visit Wigram Air Base to talk to Malaysian Air Force personnel undergoing pilot training with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The Deputy Minister will then fly to Wellington where he B will be the guest of honour at a Defence Council dinner. He will also hold talks with the Minister of Defence and senior Government officials.
