Handler saved by his dog
PA Auckland A police dog probably saved the life of its handler who was attacked in Onehunga on Saturday evening
The dog struggled with the attacker on its handler's instructions while the policeman was repeatedly hit about the head. Constable Lloyd Gore was knocked unconscious in the attack. He was. recovering from back. arm. and neck injuries yesterday. His dog, Vader, was the toast of the Auckland police. Senior-Sergeant R. K.
Hodgins said that Vader probably saved Constable Gore's life. "I would say that the dog was probably responsible for the constable not suffering more serious injuries." he said. "The dog attacked on its handler's instructions." The attack occurred after Constable Gore and his dog arrived at a car-sales yard to investigate a reported sighting of a burglar. The dog held on to the attacker until more police arrived and overpowered the assailant.
