Theatre goes to school
Theatre in Education, a group of four Court Theatre actors, will give its first performance at the Heathcote Valley School this afternoon.
The company's main aim is to get schoolchildren used to the idea of live theatre. "It is essential that children are exposed to goodquality live performances at an early age." said the company's director. Mr Alex Gilchrist.
"The one-to-one relationship between actor and audience. which develops in the
classroom and indeed in the theatre, is so different from the television experience." The company will work in primary schools throughout Canterbury for the first part of the school vear.
It will present a show based on tales by the Brothers Grimm. The show has been written by Murree Hutchinson, originator of the television programme. "Spot On."
The company will perform three shows a day. five days
