Mr E. J. Lynskey
PA Wellington A former commissioner for the Chatham Islands. Mr Edward Joseph Lynskey, has died in Wellington, aged 72. Mr Lynskey spent 43 years with the Lands and Survey Department, becoming Assistant Director-General of Lands before his retirement in 1969. He was appointed Commissioner for the Chatham Islands in 1972, and retired in 1979 when he was succeeded by a former Director-Gen-eral of the Post Office, Mr W. J. Sewell. Mr Lynskey was born at Kaiapoi and educated at St Bede’s College and the University of Canterbury. He joined the Lands and Survey Department in 1926. He was Commissioner of Crown Lands at Dunedin from 1951 until 1954 when he moved to Wellington as the department’s chief administration officer.
Mr Lynskey is survived by his wife, and one son and one daughter.
