Firm trend for wool

PA Wellington Most wool prices were firm at the Wanganui-Well-ington sale yesterday. A total of 30,900 bales were on offer, including more than 16,000 from Wanganui. almost 6000 by separation from Auckland, and the rest from the Wellington area. Compared with the Invercargill wools sold by separation at Christchurch on Thursday, the market for Wellington wools was quoted as firm, with better grown and better prepared lines in sellers’ favour. Wool Board supplementation for fleece wool was 10c to 15c, and oddments 12c to 18c. The board bid on 35 per cent of the catalogue and bought or had passed to it, 9.5 per cent. The adjusted weighted average sale price was 258.37 c a kilogram, according to the Wool Board. Based on this a Government supplementary payment of 23.9 per cent will apply to all wool sold at the sale and all wool sold privately from midnight on Thursday to midnight. February 17.
