General forecast: A south-easterly flow over :he North Island and over the north-east of the South Island will be fresh and ?usty from Wellington to southern Taranaki, but slowly moderating. In the rest of the South Island fine weather after the clearance of some morning cloud. Moderate north-easterlies developing about the east coast and light winds in most other places apart from afternoon coastal sea breezes. District forecasts: Canterbury; Southerlies fresh about the coast moderating and becoming northeasterly, cloudy with some drizzle areas clearing during the morning.

Nelson, Buller; Fine apart from some early morning cloud, fresh southerlies dying out and light winds apart from moderate afternoon sea breezes. Marlborough: Cool southeasterlies strong in exposed places moderating slowly, cloudy about the coast otherwise fine, becoming milder. Westland: Light variable winds with sea breezes this afternoon, fine and becoming mild after the clearance of early morning low cloud. Outlook: Fine apart from some showers about Gisborne and the east coast of Northland.
