Club to ‘keep fighting’
NZPA staff correspondent London The English . second-divi-sion club, Norwich City, are going to “keep fighting” in their bid to win New Zealand World Cup hero, Wynton Rufer, a work permit. The 18-year-old Rufer has been refused a permit by the Department of Employment. The department said this week that it is tightening up the criteria for issuing work permits to sportsmen outside
the European Economic Community. The Norwich club secretary. Mr Nigel Pleasants, said they have enlisted the help of their local member of Parliament, the Conservative. Mr John McGregor, in their appeal to have Rufer admitted. “I think it is very doubtful that we will win but we are going to keep fighting,” he said.
