$4000 bonus for top performer
PA Wellington Australian and New Zealand cricketers in their series which begins today will be playing for a $4OOO Sportsman of the Series award. The award, in addition to those already agreed for the series, has been donated by the Australia-New Zealand Foundation, a body encouraging cultural and other exchanges between the two countries. The award will be based on the contribution of players to the three test matches and the one-day games, a statement from the foundation’s chairman. Sir Peter Derham, said yesterday. It will be judged by a panel of writers and broadcasters.
