Pool fences favoured

Some of Heathcote's residents, surveyed recently, favour fencing of private swimming pools, the Heathcote County Council's finance and administration committee was told last evening. The survey, taken by the council, received 111 replies, including 80 in favour of , fencing. But, asked Cr F. R. Chapman, of the committee: "How many of these people own pools?” Cr M. J.,Taylor said it was hard to judge the outcome of the survey as “only 100 or so people out of about 2000 have responded.” The survey also indicated that few Heathcote residents used the western rubbish transfer station and its resource recovery section. The committee hopes to make a similar survey in about 14 months.
