Exports of Buller coal to increase

in Tokyo South Korea plans to double its import volume of Buller coking coal this year to about 90,000 tonnes. A spokesman for the Pohan Iron and Steel Company said that last year $U565.80 was paid for each tonne of Buller coal, and this year's price would be linked
again to the price the two Japanese buyers agreed to pay for their shipments this year of about 150,000 tonnes. State Coal will face tough bargaining sessions in Tokyo and Seoul next month when it negotiates the 1982 contract prices and volumes. The Japanese buyers already have rebuffed State Coal’s proposed new price of at least SUS 73 a tonne.
