Clyde dam bids
Parliament reporter Several "extremely competitive" bids have been received for the contract to build the Clyde dam. according to the Minister of Works and Development (Mr Quigley).
A preliminary examination of the tenders had been made and. subject to the outstanding water right ap-
peal, the Commissioner of Works (Mr J. J. Chesterman) had been authorised to begin negotiations with some tenderers on matters of detail and interpretation.
The contract work was programmed to be substantially completed by the end of 1986 to allow lake filling and the commissioning of the power station by April. 1987.
