Vehicle deaths
PA ' Palmerston North A young Ashhurst man died and two others were seriously injured when their car crashed into a bridge near Mount Stewart, near {Sanson, on Saturday. He was David Allan Ackerman, aged 19, a passenger in the car. The driver and another passenger were taken to Palmerston North Hospital. In Tauranga a New Plymouth visitor died after collapsing at the wheel of his car on Saturday. He was Leslie William Penrose, aged 75. The Tauranga police said the car ran into a power pole after Mr Penrose collapsed. It was known that he had been receiving treatment for a heart condition.
