General forecast: The cold front over New Zealand is expected to move on to the North Island today. Fine or soon becoming fine over most of the South Island but the cool south-westerlies may give isolated showers along the southern and eastern coasts. Rain in the area from Taranaki to Manawatu should also clear but cool southerlies should bring showers to the east of the North Island. In the north of the North Island the front is expected to be slow moving and with the depression to

the north will give some rain to most northern districts. District forecasts: Canterbury; Mainly fine but isolated showers still likely about the coast. Nelson, Buller: Cool southerlies becoming fresh in exposed places; fine. Marlborough: Cooler southerlies strong on exposed coasts, with some showers; fine inland. Westland: Skies clearing: becoming cooler and moderate south or south-easter-lies prevailing. Outlook: Mainly fine.
