Mr Colin Smith, an auctioneer for Smiths City Market, returns to the light after an examination of the interior of an old safe during a break in preparing items for the clearing sale at the former Canterbury Public Library on Saturday. The kerosene lamp and the safe are among more than 200 lots that will be sold without reserve. These include office desks, hundreds of metres of shelving, steel filing cabinets, chairs, tables, and one mousetrap in working order.
