F.O.L. ssues call to Poland

PA Wellington The Federation of Labour has called on the Polish Government to “recognise and respect” the Polish trade union movement immediately. It also wants the Brusselsbased International Conferderation of Free Trade Unions (1.C.F.T.U.) to send a delegation to Poland. The president of the F.O.L. Mr W. J. Knox, said yesterday that he was prepared to be part of the delegation.(He represents Australia, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and New Zealand on the 1.C.F.T.U.)

The Federation’s decisions were set out in a policy adopted by the national

executive and released by Mr Knox yesterday. The policy resolution, which commends the Polish unions ih their “struggle against injustice,” also condemns military rule ‘ and force against trade unions and urges, restoration of normar civilian administration “forthwith.” / , The resolution-, also calls on New;Zealand trade unions to'support ah appeal .for food ;and ‘'other material forms of ■assistance ■ for the Polish people.” ■
